On Monday 1 September 2025, Luxembourg's Chamber of Employees (Chambre des Salariés - CSL) launched a new online salary comparison tool.

The free digital tool enables employees to see how their salary fits within Luxembourg's overall salary distribution. Based on the most recent data available, it provides a clear visualisation of where an individual salary stands in relation to the working population. Users can compare their situation with that of male or female residents and/or cross-border workers.

By offering what it described as an "objective and reliable benchmark", the CSL aims to contribute to a better understanding of salary levels in the Grand Duchy. The tool reportedly responds to a growing demand for transparency, while also helping employees to position themselves in the labour market and contributing to social dialogue on remuneration issues.

To make a comparison, employees are asked to enter their weekly working hours, annual gross salary, residency status (resident or cross-border worker) and gender, before clicking the "Compare" button. The tool then generates a graph showing their salary position in the national distribution. It also allows users to convert salaries into full-time equivalents.

According to the CSL, this tool is part of its mission to inform, support and defend the interests of employees.

The salary comparison tool is available in French, German and English. The English version is accessible at https://www.csl.lu/en/your-rights/employees/remuneration/salarycomparison/
