On Monday 3 August 2026, the Luxembourg Gymnastics Federation (FLGym) announced that Luxembourg has officially been awarded the hosting rights for the 2028 European TeamGym Championships following a decision by the European Gymnastics Executive Committee.
According to the federation, the Luxembourg bid received the support of a majority of the Executive Committee members, entrusting FLGym with the organisation of the sevemteenth European TeamGym Championships.
The championships will take place from Wednesday 1 to Saturday 4 November 2028 at the Coque National Sports and Culture Centre in Luxembourg-Kirchberg. The event is expected to bring together between 900 and 1,000 Senior and Junior TeamGym athletes from across Europe.
Luxembourg previously hosted the championships in 2022, an edition which the federation noted remains the largest in the event's history in terms of both participating athletes and European member federations. The country was originally awarded the hosting rights in 2020.
The federation added that around 1,000 accredited participants travelled to Luxembourg for the 2022 championships, while more than 4,000 spectators attended each day of competition, generating a significant economic impact for hotels, restaurants, local businesses and the tourism sector.
The federation stated:: “The successful bid was made possible through the commitment and cooperation of numerous national and local partners, including the Ministry of Sport, the Ministry of Tourism, the City of Luxembourg and the d'Coque National Sports and Culture Centre. Their collective support enabled the bid to be prepared and presented to the highest standard, showcasing the many strengths that Luxembourg has to offer as a host of major international sporting events.”
