Luxembourg's Ministry of the Environment, Climate and Biodiversity has announced a photographic exhibition on nature and infrastructure organised as part of LUGA - Luxembourg Urban Garden.
The "Nature et Infrastructures" exhibition by Andrés Lejona highlights infrastructures that are usually inaccessible and little-known to the public and yet play a crucial role in the protection, conservation and restoration of nature. The exhibition runs from Saturday 10 May to Saturday 18 October 2025 at LUGA Lab, a space designed as a laboratory for ideas and experiments located in Park Odendahl in Luxembourg-Pfaffenthal.
Since his early days, Andrés Lejona (born in 1962 in Spain) has developed a body of work that focuses on changing places and the interactions between humans and their environment. "Lieux de passage", a series exploring spaces of transition and movement, "L'ancien Findel", a documentary on the former Luxembourg Airport, "Mémoires en transitions", a project documenting historic farms, and "The Bitten Earth", about anthropocenic landscapes created by mining, are among his previous projects related to his current work.
Through a selection of sixteen photographs from a new production, the "Nature et Infrastructures" exhibition at LUGA Lab highlights nature protection efforts in the face of the climate crisis, biodiversity loss and the multiple environmental pressures that are evident today.
Using medium and large-format cameras and a drone, Andrés Lejona captures highly precise images. The photographs presented in his new exhibition reportedly offer the public a new perspective on often inaccessible structures, revealing unexpected landscapes and ingenious solutions for coexistence, such as a wildlife crossing bridge.
This travelling exhibition is part of the awareness-raising programme resulting from the ministry's national plan for nature protection, implemented through the joint efforts of the Nature and Forestry Agency, the Water Management Authority and the Environment Agency. It will be extended by a series of thirteen photographs presented in August 2025 in Place de Strasbourg, in collaboration with the City of Luxembourg (VdL). After LUGA in October 2025, the exhibition will be hosted by the Biodiversum in Remerchen, where it will be on display until February 2026.
