On Thursday 26 June 2025, Luxembourg’s top tennis player Chris Rodesch qualified for the Wimbledon main draw after defeating his final opponent in the qualifying rounds.

Rodesch secured his place in the main draw of the second Grand Slam tournament of his career with a win over top-seeded Hungarian player Marton Fucsovics (ATP ranked #103) in four sets, 6-3, 6-4, 0-6, 7-6(4).

Despite hitting seven aces and landing 74% of his first serves, Rodesch won fewer total points than Fucsovics (117 to 119) but proved more efficient in key moments. He converted two of three break points and won 66% of his net points, while Fucsovics converted three of nine break chances and hit eight double faults.

Prior to that, Chris Rodesch defeated two opponents in the qualifying rounds. In the first round, he overcame 23-year-old Italian Matteo Gigante (ATP ranked #134) in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4. He then secured a 6-1, 6-3 win over 22-year-old Estonian Mark Lajal (ATP ranked #167) in the second round.

In an interview with Chronicle.lu following his qualification for the Wimbledon main draw, 23-year-old Chris Rodesch stated: “I'm really happy, […] it’s a dream come true. It's my second Grand Slam ever and qualifying for the main draw is really good. I hope I can keep going and play good tennis in the main draw. I'm going to start preparing tomorrow [Friday 27 June 2025]. Today is a day to enjoy. And then from Saturday, I’ll start playing again and get ready for the big matches.”

The Wimbledon draw is scheduled to take place on Friday 27 June 2025 at 11:00, at which point Luxembourg’s Chris Rodesch will learn the name of his first-round opponent. He is the first player from the Grand Duchy to compete in the Wimbledon main draw since 2018, when Gilles Muller (former ATP #21) reached the second round.
