On Tuesday 2 December 2025, the Tennis Club des Arquebusiers, together with the City of Luxembourg (VdL), inaugurated its new pavilion and presented the club’s upgraded sports facilities and the redevelopment and extension project of its brasserie in Luxembourg-Belair.

The event took place in the presence of Luxembourg City Mayor Lydie Polfer, Aldermen Laurent Mosar and Maurice Bauer, Luxembourg Tennis Federation President Claude Lamberty and Tennis Club des Arquebusiers President Kik Schneider, along with other representatives of the Grand Duchy’s tennis community.

According to the City of Luxembourg (VdL), the works included the construction of a new entrance pavilion measuring 46 metres in length and approximately 5.70 metres in width, designed as a multi-purpose space for physical preparation, reception, meetings and club events; the structure also features an accessible rooftop terrace overlooking the outdoor courts. The project further comprised an extension of the restaurant using a former flat-roof surface, the installation of a lift to improve accessibility, a complete renovation of first-floor sanitary facilities and the addition of two external galvanised-steel emergency staircases.

The project, which had a total cost of €3,286,647.86 including VAT, was largely financed through an extraordinary municipal subsidy of €2,606,846 approved in February 2024, with the club contributing €679,801.86. Luxembourg’s Ministry of Sport also pledged support for the sports infrastructure component, which VdL said demonstrates a “shared commitment to a high-quality and sustainable sporting environment”.

Founded in 1922, the Tennis Club des Arquebusiers today has 1,135 members and a tennis school with more than 750 pupils, making it one of the country’s largest tennis organisations. The club has long been involved in promoting tennis and supporting youth sport in Luxembourg City and the surrounding areas. Following the construction of a new tennis hall with three additional courts in 2017, the club continues to invest in its facilities, which VdL described as “one of the most dynamic and significant sports clubs in the country”.
