On Sunday 12 October 2025, former World No. 1 Angelique Kerber of Germany won the Luxembourg Ladies Tennis Masters 2025 final in front of a packed crowd at the Coque National Sports and Culture Centre in Luxembourg-Kirchberg.

En route to the title, the 37-year-old Kerber defeated Belgium’s Kirsten Flipkens, the current champion, 6-3, 6-4 and Czech player Barbora Strycova 6-4, 7-5, before meeting Alizé Cornet in the final. The 35-year-old Frenchwoman had advanced after 2022 champion and former world top-ranked player Kim Clijsters (Belgium) retired from their quarter-final with a leg injury at 6-4, 2-1, then beat 2023 title-holder Anett Kontaveit (Estonia) 6-4, 6-3 in the semi-finals.

In the final, Alizé Cornet raced through the opening set 6-1, before Angelique Kerber wrested back control to take the second 6-3. The title was decided in a match tie-break: Cornet led 6-4, Kerber surged to 7-6, Cornet levelled, but Kerber then won three consecutive points to close out the decider 10-7 and secure the championship on her Luxembourg Ladies Tennis Masters debut.

“I would have liked to win and I played with all my heart, but today she was stronger,” said Cornet, who thanked the tournament team and volunteers for “an incredible week” and the chance for former players to reconnect with competition and its emotions.

“We have had so many battles and it was great to share the court again,” said Kerber. “I’m happy we produced such an intense match. Thank you to everyone who made this tournament possible, it exceeded my expectations, and to the crowd for the amazing support.”

Angelique Kerber received the winner’s trophy from Xavier Bettel, Luxembourg’s Deputy Prime Minister, along with a cheque for €50,000 in prize money, while runner-up Alizé Cornet was awarded €20,000.
